"Pablo Picasso said, “Every child is an artist.” But for even the most creative kids—especially the youngest ones—art museums can be a snooze. The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery is aiming to change that!
Explore! With the Portrait Gallery is the museum’s first space designed just for kids. Geared toward kids ages 18 months to eight years, the brand-new exhibit, in collaboration with Explore! Children's Museum of Washington, D.C., offers a kid-friendly respite from the traditional painting-lined rooms of a museum. (The Explore! Children's Museum, set to open in the Fort Totten neighborhood in 2019, is using this as a way to give families a sneak peek of what's to come.)"
